Tiao Nithakhong Somsanith, a descendant of the vice-royal branch of the Luang Prabang monarchy is still active in maintaining the traditional arts of Luang Prabang. This fascinating short film, Memories of Gold, Memories of Silk, was made in 2001 shortly after his return to Luang Prabang and features his gold and silk embroidery work, a skill he learnt from the women of the royal court.​
