Backing on to Luang Prabang airport's runway, "The Forest Temple of Elephant Mountain" is in a somewhat deteriorated state but maintains its considerable charm. The style suggests that it dates from the late nineteenth century. 

​There is a traditional stye open crematorium within the monastery grounds.
