Vat Pa Pha O

This monastery complex north of Luang Prabang was established in 2008 to provide a place of retreat for monks away from the increasingly busy town. The complex includes a secondary school, a School of Buddhist Arts and Crafts and an Academy of Higher Buddhist Education. Some three hundred novices live and study at the monastery.
If one walks down the hill towards the village of Pha O one can find the original Ban Pha O monastery with a small but nicely kept sim and some old wooden kuti buildings still standing. This monastery is still in use for the villagers.
