Vat Khok Va Khounviseth
ວັດຄົກວ່າ ຄຸນວິເສດ

On the left bank of the Mekong before reaching Luang Prabang near the airport, Vat Khok Va is noted for housing the highly revered Phra Kieow (ພຣະກິ່ວ) Buddha image. This statue was found buried by Khamu farmers being slightly damaged in the discovery). When bought to the village it was noted that a sickness pervading the village at the time was stopped. An inscription on the back in ancient Lao script dates the statue to 1535.
