Luang Prabang in 1957

General Scenes

Joel M. Halpern was an anthropologist by training and many of his photos sought to capture not just the town of Luang Prabang but its people and cultural traditions. He clearly  held a great interest in the many ethnic minority groups that appeared in the town, in those days dressed quite distinctively according to their own traditions.
